About
Shariful Islam is a Bangladeshi violinist, composer, and orchestra educator whose work blends Western classical technique with the expressive soul of Bengal. With over 13 years of experience across the Bangladesh Army Orchestra, Dhaka Symphony Orchestra, and Navy Symphony Orchestra, he is shaping a new era of contemporary South Asian orchestral sound.
Dhaka Philharmonic

Dhaka Philharmonic is a new orchestral initiative founded by Shariful Islam, dedicated to shaping a contemporary sound rooted in the spirit of Bangladesh. Blending Western classical instrumentation with Bangladeshi spiritual, folk, modern composition, and experimental textures, the ensemble aims to build a sustainable orchestral culture in Bangladesh and bring a bold new identity to South Asian music.

Jongli Hawa — Music Composition
A contemporary sound and poetry collaboration featuring Shariful’s violin writing and atmospheric composition for the popular channel Jonglei Hawa.
Catch Me — Bandcamp Release
A fusion track blending jazz, improvisation, and modern violin phrasing, released globally through Bandcamp
Orchestral Development — Bangladesh military Orchestra
Between 2020–2025, Shariful arranged, trained, and developed string sections for the Navy and Bangladesh Army Orchestra, introducing violin, viola, cello, and bass into military orchestral practice.
Dhaka Symphony Orchestra
As Director and conductor of DSO, Shariful contributed to shaping a modern urban orchestral sound and conducted collaborative performances across Dhaka.
